Though very uneven, and containing, in the final analysis, more bad episodes than good ones, TNG’s second season improved enormously from its first. Nine of the season’s twenty-two episodes are keepers, and the single most common rating for the season is two stars–whereas an actual majority of the previous season’s episodes were one-star disasters. Moreover, this season gave us the show’s first actually really good episodes; there are two five-star classics and three four-star gems to show us what the show was theoretically capable of!
